«Numancia» is the historical novel by José Luis Corral, published by Editora y Distribuidora Hispano Americana (Edhasa) in hardcover (576 pages, in Spanish).
The action follows Aravacos, a young Hispanic man who serves in the Roman army and travels to Rome, then returns to lead the Numantian resistance against the imperial invasion. The narrative describes the Mediterranean world of the era, the political and military organization, and the differences between Rome and Hispania, combining historical rigor with adventure.
It belongs to Edhasa's Narrativas Históricas collection. The episode of the resistance of Numantia has given rise to the expression «numantino» and to works such as «La Numancia» by Cervantes.
Recommended for readers of historical fiction interested in Roman Hispania and the epic of the Celtiberian resistance.
