«O canteiro dos livros» is a children's picture book by José Jorge Letria, published by Texto Editores in paperback (32 pages, in Portuguese).
The story starts from a fantasy: in a garden not only flowers grow, books also sprout. The protagonist discovers in them a bond made of complicity and mystery, a secret she keeps carefully, while the work champions the love of reading and the magic hidden in volumes.
Published in 2008 and illustrated by Carla Nazareth. Portugal's National Reading Plan recommends it for the 2nd year of schooling, intended for independent reading.
Aimed at children from 6 years old, it also works as shared reading with adults.
