«O Julião das Estrelas» is the novel by Manuel Abecasis, published by Oficina do Livro in paperback (160 pages, in Portuguese).
The narrator recalls his childhood and gives voice to Julião, a secret friend who, one Christmas at age six, decides not to grow up anymore. Fascinated by the stars, Julião has a pure gaze, uncorrupted by adult life, and from the imaginary he ends up becoming real. It is the story of that happy relationship, and a reminder that we all carry a Julião within.
For those seeking an intimate and evocative read about childhood, memory, and imaginary friends.
