«One, Two, Flea!» is the reading primer by Allan Ahlberg and Colin McNaughton, published by Walker Books in paperback (32 pages, in English).
A reading primer with very basic texts and a humorous tone. Short sentences or simple captions combine with comic color illustrations, and the title, which plays on counting, is a good example of the playful spirit of pages designed to make learning to read fun.
Text by Allan Ahlberg and illustrations by Colin McNaughton. Published in September 1987 in the Red Nose Readers series.
For children from about 5 years old who are beginning to read in English; also useful for parents and educators looking for a first reading book with humor.
Janet Ahlberg and Allan Ahlberg were a British married couple who created many children's books, including picture books that regularly appear at the top of "most popular" lists for public libraries. They worked together for 20 years until Janet's death from cancer in 1994. He wrote the books and she illustrated many of them. Allan also wrote dozens of books with other illustrators.
