«Operación Doble Dos» is the spy and political fiction novel by Gonzalo Suárez, published by Planeta in 1974 in hardcover (317 pages, in Spanish).
The plot begins in 1959, when Eisenhower visits Spain and a rumor spreads of a possible double assassination. Gonzalo Suárez mixes reality and fiction to imagine an agency that, in the shadow of the CIA, would fabricate false attacks in order to reinforce the defensive machinery of states; the operation ends up escaping the control of its own creators. The novel was born from a script that Suárez wrote in Los Angeles with Sam Peckinpah.
The work belongs to Planeta's Autores Españoles e Hispanoamericanos collection and is also known by its original title «Doble Dos». It appeared in 1974, was the 1st edition and there is evidence of a 3rd edition.
Gonzalo Suárez Morilla is a Spanish writer, screenwriter and film director.
