«Os Piratas» is the youth theater play by Manuel António Pina, published by Porto Editora in paperback (94 pages, in Portuguese).
The play presents an unusual situation: a boy suddenly appears on a pirate ship, not knowing how he got there, and must save his mother. The captain takes him for a cabin boy and, in utter despair, he wakes up believing it was a nightmare; but he still wears the red scarf on his head, leaving it in the air whether it was dream or reality.
It belongs to the Educação Literária collection and is recommended by the Plano Nacional de Leitura for the 6th year of schooling.
School reading intended for 6th-year students and for young readers approaching theater.
Manuel António Pina ComIH was a Portuguese journalist and writer. In 2011 he was awarded the Prémio Camões, the most important literary award in the Portuguese language.
