«Páginas ocultas de la historia» is a short story collection by Fernando Marías and Juan Bas, published by Ediciones Destino in paperback (241 pages, in Spanish).
Fourteen stories speculate on well-known historical episodes: a third maja by Goya, Lorca's death, the Dos de Mayo uprising, crimes behind Lope de Vega, or a colonel who had Franco and Mola in his sights. Fernando Marías and Juan Bas mix fiction and reality in deliberately ambiguous doses to reinterpret characters and events.
The book was published in 1999 and is part of volume 855 of the Áncora y Delfín collection; it includes bibliographic references at the end.
For readers of contemporary fiction who enjoy the speculative reinterpretation of historical episodes and characters.
Fernando Marías Amondo was a Spanish writer.
