Paraules d'Opòton el vell is a novel by the writer Avel·lí Artís Gener, published in 2000 by Edicions 62. The novel proposes an ingenious and funny historical inversion: what would have happened if the Aztecs had reached the coasts of the Old Continent before Christopher Columbus discovered America? The protagonist, Opòton, an old Aztec potter, arrives in Galicia with the mentality of a conqueror, describing with humor everything he finds along the way. The work invites us to reflect on history through a journey to the past.
