«Paroles de Poilus» is the collection of First World War testimonies directed by Jean-Pierre Guéno and Yves Laplume, in paperback.
It gathers nearly a hundred letters and diaries from French soldiers of the First World War, brought together thanks to Radio France. Men from very diverse trades, mobilized between 1914 and 1918, recount life in the trenches and the human cost of the conflict: more than two million never returned home. A work that appeals to the duty of remembrance.
It is part of the Librio Document collection (number 245), with the subtitle «Lettres et carnets du front 1914-1918»; it was originally published in 1998.
For readers of contemporary history and for students working with First World War testimonies.
