«Plain and Fancy» is the English-language children's book of opposites by Harriet Ziefert, illustrated by Barroux, in hardcover (36 pages).
Emily and Alex are twins who, despite sharing parents and birth date, show very different tastes and appearances. Through its fun illustrations, the book presents pairs of opposites in English —such as big/little or clean/dirty— so that the little ones learn basic vocabulary while having fun.
Second volume of the Emily and Alex series, published by Edelvives in an all-caps edition; recommended from age 3.
Due to its visual and playful approach, it is designed for the youngest children approaching English for the first time.
Harriet Ziefert is an American children's author. Ziefert was born in North Bergen, New Jersey. She has written several hundred children's books, including the Little Hippo series. Notable illustrators of her books include Emilie Boon and Santiago Cohen.
