«¿Por qué estás triste?» is an illustrated children's story, written and illustrated by Violeta Monreal (Editorial Everest, paperback, 35 pages, in Spanish).
The protagonist, Almudena, is a great blue whale who becomes concerned when she sees that some children are sad and approaches them to ask what is wrong. The story presents sadness as a natural emotion and opens a space for little ones to talk about how they feel. Violeta Monreal's illustrations accompany the text.
It belongs to the 'Leer es vivir' collection and won the III CCEI Honor List Prize in 1998.
Suitable for children aged 5 to 6, especially if they are starting to read or need to name emotions such as sadness.
