«Public Library and Other Stories» is Ali Smith's collection of short stories published by Penguin Books in hardcover (219 pages, in English).
In these stories, Ali Smith explores the link between books and life: how they accompany us, challenge us and change us. Public libraries appear as spaces of encounter, reading and freedom, and their current fragility is a central theme; with humor and wit, the author celebrates reading and the transformative power of words.
Published on November 5, 2015, it includes the story «The Beholder», nominated for the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award in 2013.
For readers of contemporary fiction and lovers of short stories, of books about books and of the world of libraries.
Ali Smith CBE FRSL is a Scottish author, playwright, academic and journalist. Sebastian Barry described her in 2016 as "Scotland's Nobel laureate-in-waiting."
