«¿Qué me quieres, amor?» is a collection of short stories by Manuel Rivas, published by Santillana USA Publishing Company in paperback (208 pages, in Spanish).
The stories gathered in this volume explore love in its many forms: filial, carnal, compassionate, or the love born from a friendship with a rural teacher. Manuel Rivas writes with a blend of rawness, tenderness, and humor about lack of communication and solitude. It includes «La lengua de las mariposas», adapted into a movie by José Luis Cuerda.
The collection, originally published in 1995, won the Torrente Ballester Prize (1995) and the National Narrative Prize (1996). The translation is by Dolores Vilavedra.
For readers of short stories and Spanish-language literature, and for those who want to discover the origin of the movie «La lengua de las mariposas».
Manuel Rivas Barrós is a Galician writer, poet and journalist.
