«Quiet» is a novel by Màrius Serra, published by Editorial Empúries in paperback (224 pages, in Catalan).
Màrius Serra recounts seven years in the life of his son Lluís, who was born with a severe encephalopathy. Through scenes and memories, he explores the ambivalence of raising a child with special needs: pain, but also joy and wonder. Against the myth of Dorian Gray, he proposes an inverted mirror: learning to look and to age instead of wanting to be looked at.
«Quiet» belongs to the Empúries Narrativa collection, number 333. This edition was published on November 21, 2018.
A read for those interested in contemporary fiction and autobiographical accounts of fatherhood and special needs.
Màrius Serra i Roig is a Spanish writer, journalist, translator and television maker.
