«Quisiera que alguien me esperara en algún lugar» is Anna Gavalda's short story collection, published by Booket in paperback (192 pages, in Spanish).
Twelve stories featuring anonymous people who, at a decisive moment, face the consequences of their choices: a salesman takes a detour that changes his day, a woman sees the person she was waiting for in a new light, and a vet encounters two men who treat her like an animal. Everyday life becomes a starting point for illuminating human emotions at their most intense.
The book won the Grand Prix RTL-Lire in 2000 and was originally published as «Je voudrais que quelqu'un m'attende quelque part», translated into Spanish by Isabel González-Gallarza.
It is a recommended choice for those who enjoy short contemporary fiction stories focused on urban life and human relationships.
Anna Gavalda is a French novelist.
