«Rodolphe et les secrets de Mayerling» is the historical essay by Jean des Cars, published by Éd. France Loisirs in hardcover (583 pages, in French).
It investigates the death at Mayerling of Rudolf of Habsburg, heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and son of Franz Joseph and Sissi, alongside Mary Vetsera. Against the official version of suicide over an adulterous love, it contrasts documents and testimonies, including the confidence of Empress Zita in 1982, to support a different truth.
The work was originally published in 2004; this France Loisirs edition dates from 2005 and comprises 583 pages.
For readers interested in the history of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and in great historical mysteries.
