«Rom com» is the contemporary novel by Claudia Muñiz, published by Caballo de Troya in paperback (152 pages, in Spanish).
The narrative follows Lydia, a Cuban resident in Spain, on a journey back to Madrid from the United States. During waits at airports, memories surface through her phone: messages, dreams and virtual exchanges that reveal a violent relationship with her ex-partner, the break with her best friend, her father's death and the uprootedness of migration. The title, a nod to the romantic comedy, frames a romance in all its variants, almost always far from comedy.
First book by Claudia Muñiz, Cuban actress and screenwriter based in Madrid, edited by Sabina Urraca. Published on September 19, 2024.
For readers of contemporary fiction interested in the social and emotional portrait of uprootedness, identity and affective relationships.
