«Rosa Caramelo» is the children's story by Adela Turin and Nella Bosnia, published by Lumen in hardcover (36 pages, in Spanish).
In the herd, the female elephants must eat pink flowers to have skin of that color, but little Margarita cannot turn pink. Tired of the scoldings, she decides to play in the mud with the males, showing that equality and being oneself matter more than appearance. A tale that invites breaking gender roles.
Work originally published as «Rosaconfetto» in 1976; this Spanish edition dates from 1998.
A story for boys and girls aged 7 to 9, useful for talking about equality and gender stereotypes.
