«Rosa Caramelo» is the children's picture book by Adela Turin, illustrated by Nella Bosnia, published by Kalandraka in hardcover (40 pages, in Spanish).
In the garden where Margarita lives, the female elephants must eat flowers so their skin turns candy pink; only she remains grey. When her parents give up imposing it on her, Margarita discovers freedom and paves the way towards equality for all her companions.
It belongs to Kalandraka's «libros para soñar» collection. The work was originally published in Italian as «Rosaconfetto» in 1976, with a translation by Xosé Ballesteros.
Recommended for boys and girls aged 5 to 8, and for families or classrooms wanting to address equality and gender stereotypes.
