«Schweizer Geschichten» is the short story collection by Urs Widmer, published by Diogenes Verlag AG in paperback (176 pages, in German).
A narrator flies over Switzerland in a balloon with a woman and a pilot, landing in various cantons. The stories portray Swiss life: families, inns, quirky characters, signalmen, skiers, and couples. These thirteen vignettes blend the outlandish and the fantastic with a view very close to the country's mentality.
Originally published in 1975, this book belongs to the Diogenes-Taschenbücher series (detebe 39/IV) in this 2016 edition.
For readers of contemporary German fiction interested in Swiss literature and short stories with humor and fantasy.
Urs Widmer was a Swiss novelist, playwright, an essayist, and a short story writer.
