«Shakespeare Cuenta» is a youth adaptation of Shakespeare's works written by Charles and Mary Lamb, published by Espasa in paperback (132 pages).
Charles and Mary Lamb rewrite comedies and tragedies by William Shakespeare in prose, bringing their plots and characters closer to young readers with simple language. The narrative moves away from the original verse to facilitate a first reading and serves as an introduction to the English playwright's theater.
This 1996 edition belongs to the Espasa Juvenil collection; the original English title is 'Tales from Shakespeare'.
Recommended for young readers aged 12 and up who want to start exploring Shakespeare's works.
Charles Lamb was an English essayist, poet, and antiquarian, best known for his Essays of Elia and for the children's book Tales from Shakespeare, co-authored with his sister, Mary Lamb (1764–1847).
