«Sin» is the psychological suspense novel by Josephine Hart, published by Vintage in paperback (176 pages, in English).
Ruth, a beautiful woman consumed by envy, hides behind her smile a fierce hatred for her cousin Elizabeth, orphaned at nine months and raised by her parents as their own daughter. Ruth moves from small cruelties to a spiral of destruction in which innocence offers no protection, in a tale of lust, cruelty and betrayal.
Sin was originally published in 1992; this Vintage edition dates from 1996. The novel was adapted into a movie in 2001.
For readers of contemporary fiction and psychological thrillers seeking dark stories about obsession, envy and destruction.
