«Sleepy Hollow. La légende du cavalier sans tête» is Washington Irving's gothic tale published by Mille et une nuits in hardcover (82 pages, in French).
At the end of the eighteenth century, in a sleepy valley on the banks of the Hudson, a Dutch community lives in peace until the legend of a headless horseman who decapitates anyone he meets sows fear. Washington Irving blends irony and fantasy to turn the American dream into a nightmare.
French translation of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, original story from 1820; appeared in 2000 as number 269 of La Petite Collection.
Ideal for readers of classic and gothic horror and for those who want to discover the tale that inspired Tim Burton's movie Sleepy Hollow.

Washington Irving was an American short-story writer, essayist, biographer, historian, and diplomat of the early 19th century. He wrote the short stories "Rip Van Winkle" (1819) and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (1820), both of which appear in his collection The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent. His historical works include biographies of Oliver Goldsmith, Muhammad, and George Washington, as well as several histories of 15th-century Spain that deal with subjects such as the Alhambra, Christopher Columbus, and the Moors. Irving served as the American ambassador to Spain in the 1840s.
