«So ein Struwwelpeter» is the illustrated children's book by Hansgeorg Stengel and Karl Schrader, published by Beltz Athenäum GmbH in hardcover (36 pages, in German).
A parodic and softened version of the classic «Der Struwwelpeter» by Heinrich Hoffmann. It recreates the original moralizing stories with characters like Angelika, Frank, Siegfried, Johannes, Martin and Sibylle, but with less cruel endings: the thumbs only escape, they are not cut off, and the little trick of eating gooseberries ends in something funny. The illustrations and rhymes are designed for young children.
The publisher Beltz Athenäum GmbH published this work in 1992. The record lists 36 pages; Goodreads indicates 40. The full title according to Amazon.es is «So ein Struwwelpeter: Lustige Geschichten und drollige Bilder für Kinder von 3 bis 6 Jahren».
Recommended for children aged 3 to 6 and for families who want to introduce them to the Struwwelpeter universe in German with a less gruesome tone.
