«Sopa de xarope de amora» is the children's play by Xosé A. Neira Cruz, published by Xerais in hardcover (88 pages, in Galician).
The piece is presented as an agile comedy starring eccentric characters who update classic fairy tales. Its story follows Doctor Amorodo, a scientist in the service of royal houses who receives absurd commissions and is in love with Doña Chismunda. The title comes from the soup prepared by his housekeeper, whose recipe the doctor tries to discover. Social criticism underlies the whole work.
The work belongs to the Biblioteca Dramática Galega collection. The text includes illustrations by Marta Álvarez.
Recommended for child and young readers from 8 years old, as well as for those interested in contemporary Galician theater.
