«Stati di famiglia» is the fiction novel by Gene Gnocchi, published by Einaudi in 1993 in paperback (72 pages, in Italian).
The work turns the bureaucratic certificate of the «stato di famiglia» into a tragicomic chronicle of the neighbors of a building in Turin: a surveyor plans to kill his mother-in-law, a father flees his creditors, an aphasic grandmother answers everything with «merda», and police officers, cannon women and Siamese twins parade by.
It belongs to Einaudi's I Coralli series (no. 2).
For readers of Italian fiction who appreciate absurd comedy and social satire.
