«Storm» is Kevin Crossley-Holland's children's ghost story, published by Egmont UK in paperback (48 pages, in English).
Annie lives with her elderly parents beside a marsh, used to solitude. When her pregnant sister Willa returns home, she tells her the legend of a ghost murdered by bandits. One stormy night with the lines down, Willa goes into labor and Annie goes out to seek help. A rider offers to take her to the village.
It belongs to Egmont's Red Bananas series, with illustrations by Alan Marks, and won the Carnegie Medal.
Aimed at early readers starting to read alone, with a story of mystery and ghosts.
Kevin John William Crossley-Holland is an English translator, children's author and poet. His best known work is probably the Arthur trilogy (2000–2003), for which he won the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize and other recognition.
