This book presents a long conversation between a father (František) and his son (Jan) about the events experienced under the two totalitarian regimes that succeeded each other in Bohemia. During the Second World War and the Nazi Protectorate, František Wiendl participated in the resistance and later in the Klatovy uprising in May 1945. After the communist coup of February 1948, he committed himself to the resistance against the regime, paying the consequences with a long and harsh imprisonment in the Jáchymov labor camps (uranium mines) and in prison. The text has not only testimonial value, but also remarkable literary quality; it is accompanied by photographs and reproductions of documents; the section dedicated to the years of imprisonment is enriched by fragments of letters to his mother Marie and his father František, who was himself a prisoner in Leopoldov prison.
