«Terres mortes» is the gothic novel by Núria Bendicho Giró, published by Editorial Anagrama in paperback (184 pages, in Catalan).
The violent death of Joan, shot in the back in an isolated mansion, unleashes a polyphonic tale about a cursed lineage. The voices of the mother, the father, the children and the daughter held back by an unwanted pregnancy draw an oppressive rural world, with two deaths, a secret and a spark of goodness that resists vileness.
First novel by Núria Bendicho Giró, published on February 3, 2021 in the Llibres Anagrama collection (volume 78). It was nominated for the Òmnium Prize for best novel of the year.
For readers of contemporary gothic and rural fiction interested in new voices in Catalan literature.
