«The Canterbury Tales» is the young-adult adaptation of Geoffrey Chaucer's stories by Geraldine McCaughrean, in paperback, from Oxford University Press.
A group of pilgrims from medieval England walks towards Canterbury Cathedral and, to make the journey more pleasant, take turns telling tales of magic, trickery, love, battles and devils. Geraldine McCaughrean's agile, humorous version preserves Chaucer's irony and presents characters such as the Knight, the Miller and the Wife of Bath.
It belongs to the Oxford Illustrated Classics collection and features illustrations by Victor G. Ambrus. 1999 edition.
The edition is aimed at young readers and as a first approach to the classics; reading interest is from age 9 upwards.

Geoffrey Chaucer was an English poet, writer and civil servant best known for The Canterbury Tales. He has been called the 'father of English literature', or alternatively, the 'father of English poetry'. He was the first writer to be buried in what has since become Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey.
