«The Caverns of Mornas» is the fantasy gamebook by Richard Brightfield (Random House Children's Books, paperback, 118 pages, in English).
The reader, fleeing the kingdom of Frome, reaches the Caverns of Mornas: six levels of increasingly dangerous mazes. To escape, they must find the master merchant Lorel and negotiate their way out. They are stalked by the clay people, the firewings —incandescent dragons with sharp scales— and the vanicis, wolf-like creatures that devour humans.
Third installment of the Escape from the Kingdom of Frome series, originally published in 1987.
Recommended for readers ages 9 to 12, for its blend of fantasy and interactive narrative.
Richard Oliver Brightfield was an American writer of children's gamebooks.
