«The Devil Rides Out» is Paul O'Grady's autobiography, published in 2010 by Bantam Press in hardcover (353 pages, in English).
Paul O'Grady continues here the story of his youth: at eighteen, he juggles fatherhood and grief over his father with jobs ranging from an abattoir to a hospital, via a children's home and a nightclub. He also recalls his first outings in Liverpool's gay scene, his first steps as a performer, and trips to Manila and Poland, among anecdotes featuring a gallery of eccentric characters.
Second volume of Paul O'Grady's autobiographical series, after «At My Mother's Knee»; includes an index.
For those who enjoy artists' memoirs, British humor and LGBT stories.
Paul James O'Grady was an English drag queen, comedian, broadcaster, actor, and writer. He achieved notability in the London gay scene during the 1980s with his drag persona Lily Savage, through which he gained wider popularity in the 1990s. O'Grady subsequently dropped the character and in the 2000s became the presenter of various television and radio shows, including The Paul O'Grady Show.
