«The Enormous Turnip» is a children's story by Irene Yates, published by Ladybird in paperback (32 pages, in English).
Adaptation of a traditional folk tale: an old man plants a turnip that grows until it becomes gigantic and, to pull it up, he must ask for help from his wife and other characters who join in one after another. The cumulative story makes it easy to follow and to take part in the storytelling.
It belongs to the Ladybird First Favourite Tales collection; the subtitle indicates that it is based on a traditional folk tale.
Recommended for early readers and for shared reading aloud at home or in the classroom.
