«The Hodgeheg» is a children's novel by Dick King-Smith, published by Penguin Books in paperback (96 pages, in English).
Max is a hedgehog who lives with his family at the edge of a busy road, opposite the park they dream of. Determined to cross it safely, he investigates how humans do it. After a bump on the head, his words get mixed up and he becomes a «hodgeheg», but Max remains set on it: the crosswalk and the crossing guard are the key.
«The Hodgeheg» belongs to the Puffin Modern Classics collection and is recommended for readers aged 7 to 9.
A read for early readers who enjoy animal stories, humor and small everyday adventures starring a curious and determined hedgehog.
