«The Information» is Martin Amis's satirical novel, published by Harmony Books in hardcover (374 pages, in English).
Richard Tull, a failed novelist, consumes his professional life and his jealousy in the figure of Gwyn Barry, his old friend turned best-selling millionaire. Obsessed with the idea that Barry's success is undeserved, Richard plots how to hurt him, while his own life falls apart. The novel portrays with mordant irony the literary world, envy, and the midlife crisis in the mid-nineties.
First American edition, originally published in 1995. The author is also known for novels such as London Fields and Time's Arrow.
Aimed at readers of contemporary literary fiction and social satire who appreciate incisive prose and morally ambiguous characters.
