Synopsis of The Old Man and the Sea

El viejo y el mar es una novela corta escrita por el autor estadounidense Ernest Hemingway en Cuba en 1951 y publicada en 1952. Fue la última obra de ficción importante de Hemingway que se publicó en vida. La historia narra la lucha de un anciano pescador, Santiago, con un enorme marlín en las corrientes del Golfo, frente a la costa de Cuba. La novela ha sido interpretada como una alegoría de la lucha humana contra la naturaleza y la perseverancia ante la adversidad. Hemingway recibió el Premio Pulitzer por esta obra en 1953 y el Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1954.
