«The Wasp Factory» is Iain Banks's gothic horror novel, published by Abacus in paperback (244 pages, in English).
Frank, a sixteen-year-old living on a remote Scottish island, narrates his peculiar view of the world and the rituals he has built around the wasp factory. His account, macabre and tinged with black humor, culminates in a final twist that redefines the events. The novel combines psychological horror and an oppressive atmosphere, without sparing crudeness or discomfort.
Iain Menzies Banks was a Scottish author, writing mainstream fiction as Iain Banks and science fiction as Iain M. Banks. His books have been adapted for theatre, radio, and television. In 2008, The Times named Banks in their list of the 50 greatest British writers since 1945.
