«The World Belonged to Us» is a children's picture book by Jacqueline Woodson with illustrations by Leo Espinosa, published by Penguin in hardcover (32 pages, in English).
A group of children from a Brooklyn neighborhood celebrates the arrival of summer: they leave school and turn the streets into their playground. They jump rope, play hide-and-seek, chase ice cream trucks and believe anything is possible until their mothers call them for dinner; even so, they know there will always be another day to play again.
