«Tiempos mejores» is the novel by Eduardo Mendicutti, published by RBA in hardcover (253 pages, in Spanish).
Antonio Romero, alias «Dédalus», was a member of the communist party in an Andalusian town in 1968; in 1988 he lives in Madrid and works in interior decoration. The novel contrasts his present with that of an old comrade from the struggle and ironically portrays hypocrisy, neglect, money and the difficulty of not letting oneself be crushed.
It belongs to the collection Narrativa Actual: Autores de Lengua Española, number 81, from RBA (1994).
Recommended for readers looking for an ironic novel about friendship, political activism and life in Madrid between the 1960s and the 1980s.
