«Tocando el vacío» is Joe Simpson's account of mountain survival, published by Ediciones Desnivel in paperback (173 pages, in Spanish).
Simpson reconstructs the expedition he made in 1985 with Simon Yates to Siula Grande, in the Peruvian Andes. After suffering an accident on the descent, Simpson is injured and separated from his companion; the narrative follows his attempt to return to base camp amid pain, solitude, and extreme decisions.
This is the first Spanish edition, published in 1992 and translated from English by Rosa Fernández-Arroyo.
Recommended for readers interested in mountaineering, adventure sports, and true survival stories in extreme conditions.

Joe Simpson is a British mountaineer, author, and motivational speaker. While climbing in Peru in 1985, he suffered severe injuries and was assumed dead by his climbing companion Simon Yates after falling into a crevasse, but he survived and managed to crawl back to his base camp. He described the ordeal in his 1988 book Touching the Void, which has been adapted into a 2003 documentary film and a 2018 stage play, both of the same name.
