«Tristes armas» is the young adult novel by Marina Mayoral, published by Anaya Infantil y Juvenil in paperback (144 pages, in Spanish).
During the Spanish Civil War, Miguel and Carmiña, Republican fighters, send their daughters Harmonía and Rosa to Russia to keep them away from the conflict. The girls grow up far from their family and their land; the novel follows that experience of uprootedness and shows identity, loss and the wounds left by wars.
It belongs to Anaya's Espacio Abierto collection, number 90. The novel was originally published in 1994.
A novel for young readers interested in the Spanish Civil War, uprootedness and family stories.
