«Trópico de Capricornio» is Henry Miller's autobiographical novel, published by Bruguera in paperback (344 pages, in Spanish).
A novel with a marked autobiographical accent in which Henry Miller recalls his youth in New York, amid sexuality, poverty, and the search for identity. His direct and provocative prose portrays urban life and human relationships without restraint, challenging the morality and literary conventions of his time.
Trópico de Capricornio was originally published in 1939. The 1979 Bruguera edition belongs to the Libro Amigo collection and includes the translation from English by Carlos Manzano.
For readers interested in twentieth-century American classics and in narrative that marked erotic literature and freedom of expression.

Henry Valentine Miller was an American novelist, short story writer and essayist. He broke with existing literary forms and developed a new type of semi-autobiographical novel that blends character study, social criticism, philosophical reflection, stream of consciousness, explicit language, sex, surrealist free association, and mysticism. His most characteristic works of this kind are Tropic of Cancer, Black Spring, Tropic of Capricorn, and the trilogy The Rosy Crucifixion, which are based on his experiences in New York City and Paris, and all of which were banned in the United States until 1961. He also wrote travel memoirs and literary criticism and painted watercolors.
