«Truqui, el mago» is the children's story by Elvira Menéndez and José María Álvarez Fernández, published by Ediciones SM in hardcover (32 pages, in Spanish).
Truqui wants to be a magician like his grandfather, but he doesn't like school and still can't read. When his grandfather gives him a spellbook, his attempts to use it without understanding the words unleash absurd situations. A story with pictograms that brings little ones closer to reading and shows why it's important to know how to read.
«Truqui, el mago» was published in 2004 and is number 35 in the Pictogramas collection; the illustrations are by Teresa Novoa.
«Truqui, el mago» is designed for children aged 3 to 6 who are starting to read; the combination of text and image makes it easier to follow the story.
