«Un armario lleno de sombra» is a memoir by Antonio Gamoneda, published by Galaxia Gutenberg in hardcover (240 pages, in Spanish).
After his mother's death, Gamoneda opens the family wardrobe and from it surface memories of a childhood marked by the civil war: from its outbreak to the eve of his fourteenth birthday. He evokes the move from Oviedo to León, extreme poverty, the abuses at the Augustinian friars' school, and postwar repression.
First edition, published in May 2009 in the Narrativa collection by Galaxia Gutenberg. It won the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona in the category of literature in the Spanish language in 2009.
For readers seeking autobiographical accounts of childhood during the Spanish Civil War and the postwar period.
