«Corsaire au bagne» is the autobiographical adventure account of Louis Garneray, published by Payot in paperback (388 pages, in French).
The French adventurer Louis Garneray recalls in this autobiographical account his imprisonment on the prison hulks, the old ships converted into prisons by the British Royal Navy. The work combines a chronicle of prison life with the vicissitudes of a biography marked by the sea, offering a personal testimony of a little-known page of the nineteenth century.
The book belongs to the Petite Bibliothèque Payot collection, Voyageurs series (no. 86). Louis Garneray (1783-1857) is the author.
For readers interested in adventure memoirs, maritime history, and nineteenth-century captivity chronicles.

Ambroise Louis Garneray was a French corsair, painter and writer. He served under Robert Surcouf and Jean-Marie Dutertre, and was held as prisoner-of-war aboard Royal Navy prison hulks for eight years before being captured and repatriated at the conclusion of the Napoleonic Wars, continuing his career as a painter until his death in 1857.
