«Un destripador de antaño y otros cuentos» is the short story collection by Emilia Pardo Bazán, published by Alianza Editorial in paperback (200 pages, in Spanish).
The stories in this selection portray a harsh rural Spain: families driven by convenience, jealousy that leads to violence, and fleeting feelings. Emilia Pardo Bazán's prose combines rawness and lyricism, and the edition adds an introduction and two tales, «El indulto» and «Por el arte», which lighten the whole with irony.
This 2009 edition belongs to Alianza's El Libro de Bolsillo - Literatura collection, number 5063.
It will appeal to readers of classic Spanish fiction and to those who want to discover Emilia Pardo Bazán's short narrative.
Emilia Pardo Bazán y de la Rúa-Figueroa, Countess of Pardo Bazán was a Spanish novelist, journalist, literary critic, poet, playwright, translator, editor and professor.
