Este libro narra la biografía de Julia Vigre, una maestra que vivió los cambios sociales más importantes del siglo XX en España, desde la Segunda República hasta su fallecimiento en 2008. Más que una simple biografía, el libro detalla cómo los ideales por los que luchó Julia volvieron para hacerse futuro. A pesar de ser depurada de la Escuela pública en 1939, desempeñó una importante labor de alfabetización, ejerciendo como maestra en cárceles y escuelas a lo largo de su vida. Nacida en 1916, Julia perteneció a la primera generación de mujeres que disfrutó de los derechos sociales, políticos y civiles concedidos por la II República, y su vida fue una lucha constante por la coeducación, el laicismo y la igualdad de género.
