«Una vacante imprevista» is J.K. Rowling's first adult novel, published by Salamandra in hardcover (608 pages, in Spanish).
With its cobbled square and abbey, Pagford seems a peaceful English village, but the sudden death of Barry Fairbrother, parish councilor, unleashes a muted battle to fill his vacancy. The dispute exposes old conflicts among neighbors: children against parents, rich against poor, and husbands against wives, with the community's hypocrisy and secrets as a backdrop. The outcome will decide the future of Pagford and a housing development of dubious legality.
Novel belonging to the Novela (Best Seller) collection. Translated into Spanish, its original title is The Casual Vacancy.
