«Una vida en juego» is the historical mystery novel by Albert Salvadó, published by Roca Editorial in 2010 in paperback (288 pages, in Spanish).
Víctor Pons, head of security at the La Rabassada casino, falls in love with Carla Torres, a young bourgeois woman. When an Italian client dies, he hides the body to avoid a scandal; what seemed like a suicide is a murder that drags him into a mafia plot, with modernist Barcelona and its social conflicts as a backdrop.
The novel belongs to the «Misterio» collection from Roca Editorial and was originally published in Catalan as «Una vida en joc».
Recommended for readers of historical and suspense fiction who enjoy plots set in modernist Barcelona and its social tensions.
