«Une bouteille dans la mer de Gaza» is the young adult novel by Valérie Zenatti, published by L'École des Loisirs in paperback (168 pages, in French).
In a Jerusalem shaken by attacks, young Tal refuses to get used to the violence. She writes her memories, fears and hopes in letters, puts them in a bottle and entrusts her brother Eytan, a soldier in Gaza, with the mission of throwing it into the sea: someone on the other side might read it and build a bridge.
Winner of the Sydney Taylor Book Award in 2009 and adapted into a movie as «Une bouteille à la mer».
Recommended for young people aged 12 and up, especially for those seeking stories about the conflict and hope in the Middle East.
